Abraham Velasco Sacdalan was born on May 24, 1980, in the state of Virginia to Cesar B. Sacdalan and Suzette V. Sacdalan. He was the second eldest among his siblings: Simoun V. Sacdalan, Cyrus V. Sacdalan, Desiree S. Slater, and Alaine S. Turner. He had two brothers-in-law, Michael Turner Jr. and Trevor M. Slater; one sister-in-law, Minerva V. Sacdalan; three nephews, Ryan V. Sacdalan, Kalib V. Sacdalan, and Cameron J. Sacdalan; two nieces, Jaelyn S. Sacdalan and Sariah S. Turner; and one love, Shawn LeBlanc—his boyfriend and partner, the love of his life.

He grew up and was raised in San Francisco, California. In 2002, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Japan and eventually in the Phoenix, Arizona area, where he met Shawn and settled there for a little over 20 years until he passed away. He served in the military for approximately seven years.

He was one of the brains of the family, helping friends and family with their assignments, and he was a mama's boy. He enjoyed and excelled in math, writing, and singing karaoke. When it came to music, he was a perfectionist. He played the piano and saxophone and dabbled a bit with the flute, tirelessly and meticulously practicing until he felt a song or piece was flawless. His penmanship and handwriting were so beautiful and artistic that one might think it was calligraphy. It was all like his personality—if he was going to take something up, he was going to master it, something he learned from his father.

The things that might come to mind when we think of our precious Abe, Babam, and Dico (as he was fondly known) are that he was the life of the party and lit up the room. People flocked around him and enjoyed his company because they were thoroughly entertained by his stories, humor, expressions, comebacks, imagination, and his brilliant and witty banter with others. He was his own stand-up comedian and laughed at his own jokes. Somehow, he always found the comedy in everything—even horror films, which were one of his favorite kinds of movies. Even during difficult times and serious matters, he would try to lighten the mood with his humor. Though some were not amused, he always was. It was probably a way for him to cope during those moments.

You wouldn't dare step into the ring with him and battle back and forth with jokes, because he wouldn't stop until he was finished with you, which felt like forever on the other end. It was the same if you disrespected him or the ones he loved—you definitely would not want to cross him twice. Yet he loved, forgave, and gave so strongly and freely, without thinking twice and without reservation.

Our hearts break as we miss Abraham Velasco Sacdalan, but we should take comfort in knowing that "[God] will swallow up death forever…and [He] will wipe away the tears from all [our] faces," for in the resurrection, we will be able to embrace, laugh, see, and spend time with our dear Abe, Babam, and Dico once again (Isa. 25:8).

A Funeral Service to follow on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home; 524 Elmira Road, Vacaville, California.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors to follow on Friday, February 20, 2026 at  the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery; 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California.

Friends and family are welcome to send flowers directly to the funeral home on the day of the viewing.
