Dr. Albert M. Mitchell, Jr. passed away on February 10, 2022, surrounded by his family after a lengthy illness. "Bud" as he was known to his family and friends on the East Coast, was the third of four children born to Albert, Sr. and Grace Mitchell in Boston, Massachusetts.

Al graduated from Boston College High School in 1972, St. Anselm College, Manchester, New Hampshire in 1976, and the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Biddeford, Maine in 1984.  He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1985, subsequently receiving his training in Neurology at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB, Texas.  He was a staff neurologist at Travis AFB from 1988 to 1991.  After being honorably discharged in 1991 with the rank of Major, he established his practice in Fairfield, California which he maintained until his passing.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Albert, Sr. and Grace Mitchell, mother-in-law Evelyn Sooy and brother-in-law Charles Benedict.  He is survived by his wife, Yvonne, whom he met on a blind date in 1993.  They were married in 2004.  In addition, he is survived by his daughter Maria Mitchell (Manny Frias), son Brian Mitchell (Kelly), brother Dr. Paul Mitchell, DDS (Margaret), sisters Ann Benedict and Julie Mitchell.  He is also survived by his father-in-law, Bruce Sooy, brother-in-law Mark Sooy (Debbie) and sister-in-law Carol Passantino (Sal), and grandchildren Kellan, Kylie, and Kaden Mitchell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Al and Yvonne loved to travel.  Their adventures took them from the Baltic to the Mediterranean Seas; from Canada to Costa Rica and from the Hawaiian Islands to Cape Cod. Some of their favorite trips were with their golfing friends.  Al also enjoyed golfing "guy trips" to Pebble Beach and Bandon Dunes with his best friend Rashid Iqbal and golfing with his son Brian.  Al and Yvonne have been members of the Green Valley Country Club since 2010 and Al served on the Board of Directors for two years prior to his passing.  He was an avid golfer and reader as well as a gourmet cook who loved to entertain and share his culinary skills.  And, he loved his wine which he also generously shared.

The family is forever grateful to his golfing buddies, Doctors Rashid Iqbal, William Fulton, Gautam Vadlamudi and to Dr. Terry Van Aken and Al's office staff Wendy and Maria Rangel for their loyalty, love and support for Al during his illness. Also, to Dr. Saad Ismail and the nurses and staff of 2 North at North Bay Medical Center for their kindness, compassion and expert care. Al was a man of integrity, honesty and a mentor to many and will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved him.

There will be a visitation with Rosary from 5-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 15 ^th at Vaca Hills Chapel 524 Elmira Road in Vacaville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 16 ^th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church 350 Stinson Ave. Vacaville.  A Celebration of Life will follow the Mass at the Green Valley Country Club at 1:00 P.M.

Private burial to take place in April at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery.
