Andres Marquez
August 19, 1930 – April 26, 2025

It is with great sadness, to announce Andres "Andy" Marquez, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 94.

Andy was preceded in death by his loving wife Carmen Marquez, who passed away in February 2025.

Andy was born in Watts, CA to Andres Marquez and Leonor Estrada Marquez. He grew up in San Juan Capistrano, CA and received his associate's degree in 1951. He subsequently was drafted by the United States Army during the Korean War but was allowed to enlist in the United States Air Force. This is where many of his adventures began. Andy was a jet engine mechanic and eventually became a jet engine instructor for the Air Force. Andy's services were also requested by Washington DC to be the Jet Engine Advisor to the Spanish Air Force, where he also performed the task of being an interpreter. Also, during his military career, Andy served in the Vietnam War and received a commendation medal for his "Outstanding Professionalism Skill and Initiative" which aided immeasurably in identifying and solving numerous problems encountered. Andy concluded his 20 years of service in the United States Air Force, Honorably Retiring at Travis AFB in 1972.

While living in Vacaville, Andy went on to work at Exxon Refinery in Benicia for 17 years before finally retiring, to enjoy his golden years with Carmen. Andy and Carmen then relocated to Madera, California, where his strong work ethic and desire to keep busy led him to a variety of post-retirement jobs which included becoming a licensed realtor and notary. Andy was a stellar athlete during his younger days and excelled at everything he tried.  He played baseball, bowling (193 average), golf, and was even a ping pong champion while in the Air Force.

Andy maintained his strong mind and his sense of humor to the very end. He will be deeply missed.  We will all remember his words, "I've lived a good, long life and we all gotta go sometime." We love you Dad.

He is survived by his five children whom he shared with his first wife, the late Carrie Marquez, who passed away in November 2024:  Andres "Randy" Marquez; Anthony "Rick" Marquez; Rebecca (the late Mark) Robertson; Jeffrey (Raye-lynn) Marquez; Laura (Victor) Sutton.

He is also survived by Carmen's children, whom he loved and embraced: Chris (Josie) Pardo; Cindy (Randey) Faulkner; Phillip (Shelly) Pardo. Andy and Carmen also raised great-grandchildren, Reina-Rose Echeverria and Daniel Pardo, from a young age.

He had 14 grandchildren: Andres "Andrew" (Kandra); Nicole; Khira (Jeff); Mia; Joel (Claudia); Tierny; Deric "Trey"; Jeffrey Jr.; Isaiah; Ashley; Gabrielle; Shanay (Lequan); Raelen; and Samarah. He had 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Andy also had many other bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Also, he was brother to: Sally, Armando, Alice, David, Sally #2, Noel, Johnny, Tony and Vickie.

A memorial service with military honors will be held for family and friends.
