Arthur T Belanger, aka Art, was born in Augusta, Maine, on September 27, 1947, to Janet and Francis (Babe) Belanger. He was the eldest of seven children. When Art was seven the family moved to New Jersey.
At age 19 Art joined the US Air Force and served until 1970, becoming a proud veteran. While on active duty in Hawaii he met Donna Diel; they were married in 1971 and settled in New Jersey.
In 1979 Art went to work for the US Army Corps of Engineers and the couple moved to California where they started their family. They adopted their daughter, Lisa, in 1981 and their son, Alex, soon followed in 1985. Art was an admired father, giving his children and wife an amazing life, and passing down to his children his admirable work ethic and values.
In the last five years of his life, Art and Donna moved to the Trilogy retirement community in Rio Vista, where Art was very active in various clubs including RC, pickleball and the RV club.
Art was admired for his willingness to lend a hand, his steadfast friendships, his cool head under pressure and his unflappable common sense. He was a stubborn and kind soul who had an impact on anyone who knew him.
Art is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Donna, his children: Alex Belanger and Lisa Boulanger; his grandchildren Joey Belanger, Kaitlyn Ridenour, Alexis Belanger, Jeffrey Belanger, and Aiden Boulanger; his siblings: Alice Belanger, Ray Belanger, James Belanger, Lynne Sharkey, Rose Wary, and Michael Belanger; and many nieces and nephews. He passed peacefully on June 16, 2022, but will live on forever in the memories of those who loved him.
