Obituary

Barbara Ellen Compton of Petaluma passed away peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2022, surrounded by family and her care team.  She was 90 years old. She was born in Rochelle, IL on July 22, 1931, to Roy and Grace Walker, moved to Petaluma when she was 7 years old, and graduated from Petaluma High School in 1949. She drove a school bus for Petaluma Schools, was a homemaker, and worked in a school cafeteria for several years before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Charles 'Tuffy' Compton in 1977.  They resided in Anchorage, AK for 1 ½ years but she returned to Petaluma in 1979 following the passing of her husband. Barbara enjoyed playing bunko, bowling with her friends, and had a passion for traveling. So much so that she became a travel agent and eventually owned Funtime Travel in Rohnert Park.  She remained in that role for over 30 years until she retired at the age of 80.

Barbara was proceeded in death by her loving husband, Tuffy, and her oldest daughter Linda Crandall Holden.  She is survived by her children Robin Crandall Peracca (Bob), Richard Crandall, Kelly Cunningham Bua, and Kimberley Turner Nunnally (Troy).  She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

A viewing will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022, at Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville, CA from 9 – 11am followed by a graveside service and burial at Monument Hill Memorial Park in Woodland, CA at 12:30pm.
