It is with both heavy hearts and warm memories that we announce the passing of Beatrice Laverne "Mimi" Gaddis. Born on August 2, 1940 to Edgar and Elizabeth Utley, Mimi grew into a radiant soul celebrated for her artistic flair, genuine warmth, and a profound love for the natural world.

Mimi's artistic soul knew no bounds. She found joy in life's simple, beautiful moments—whether it was painting intricate designs on saw blades to transform ordinary objects into stunning works of art, or tending lovingly to her garden. One of her favorite pastimes was digging up cedar trees from Lake Tahoe and replanting them at her home, a heartfelt way of carrying a piece of the mountains with her wherever life took her. A free spirit who embraced change, Mimi filled every space she occupied with warmth, creativity, and life. Her profound love for animals—cherishing both beloved pets and stray creatures in need of kindness—was evident to all who knew her.

Mimi married her beloved Robert Gaddis on May 16, 1959, and together they built a beautiful family. She is survived by her children, William and Joni Corey, and Jim and Gina Gaddis; her grandchildren, Kyla Corey, Nick Corey, Marshall Gaddis, and Kristen Gaddis; and her great-grandchildren, Kaci Lee, Rylie Elizabeth, Raelynne James, and Miller Elizabeth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Elizabeth Utley, her husband Robert Gaddis, and her children William Corey and Jim Gaddis. Mimi's legacy of creativity, compassion, and love for nature will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who were touched by her gentle spirit.
