BOBBY DAN LEWIS- age 86 of Vacaville CA, entered peacefully into his eternal rest with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, in the early morning hours of January 20, 2022 at his home in Vacaville.
His wife and family were at his bedside.
Bobby was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle to his large family, and a dear friend to many.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 15 years, Frances Contestable-Lewis; One son, Michael A. Lewis (Joan) of Overland Park KS; Three daughters, Kimberly Peglow (Glenn) of Bremerton WA., Julie Lewis of Napa CA., Kelly Avery (Mark) of Sacramento CA.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bobby was especially close to his beloved son Michael, his grandson, Joshua Peglow, and his nephew, Eric Lewis.  He was happy to have spent time with each of them in his later years, and most recently, after entering hospice before he became too ill.

Bobby was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years,
Shirley L. Wilson-Lewis; his high school sweetheart and the mother of his four children.

Bobby was also preceded in death by his father, John Arthur Lewis; his mother, Flora Agnes Lewis; and three elder brothers, Roy Lee Lewis, Eugene Arthur Lewis, and Olan Lewis.

In October 1954, shortly after his marriage to Shirley, Bobby was unable to secure a job. He was informed by several job interviewers that because he had not yet fulfilled his military responsibility he could be drafted from his job after they trained him. They were hesitant to employ him so Bobby enlisted in the Air Force. Bobby faithfully and sacrificially served his country in Japan and the Philippines as a Cryptographic Operator of the Air Training Command. He was honorably discharged from his Air Force duties in October 1962, after eight years of service.

In early 1963, Bobby started his career training as a Plumber Apprentice; he advanced to Journeyman in 1967.  A few years later he was awarded a State Board of Education Teaching Credential to teach the vocational and technical subjects of Plumbing Steamfitting. This lifetime award was issued to Bobby in May 1970.

In August 1973 he was awarded the title of Certified Instructor of Journeymen and Apprentices in the Plumbing and Pipefitting industry from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.

In December 1974, Bobby was elected by his peers to represent them as their Business Manager for Local 343. He served in that office for two consecutive terms.

He retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Local 343 after 58 years of service.

A Celebration of Life for Bobby Dan Lewis will take place at Faith Community Church, Vacaville CA at a later date.

Interment will be at Sacramento Military Veteran's Cemetery in Dixon, CA. with full Air Force honors at a later date.
