Chester J (Chet) Pawlik

January 23, 1930 – September 20, 2023

Chester (Chet) Pawlik passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023 at the age of 93.

Chet was born in Saginaw, Michigan on January 23, 1930 to the late John and Apolonia (Golen) Pawlik. He was employed by Kmart and retired after 45 years of service. Chet proudly served in the National Guard.

In retirement he enjoyed playing senior Softball. He also spent many hours volunteering at Will C. Wood High School where he was part of the chain gang for the football games. He started videotaping sports being played throughout the season. It became so busy he had to have a schedule to keep track of the games and times. These invaluable tapes were shared with the coaches.

Chet was elected into the first Hall of Fame at Will C. Wood High School in 2016 for his contributions as a volunteer to the school.

He was also recognized as a Vacaville Angel in 2000 by the Vacaville Youth Roundtable for his contribution to the improvement of the quality of life for youth and their families in the city of Vacaville.

He also enjoyed his many Fishing trips to Alaska and crafting doll cradles for family and friends.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vacaville, California where he served as an Usher.

Chet is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Pat); Children, Alice Pawlik (Ron Shafer), Bill Pawlik (Elaine), John Pawlik (Sheri) and Matthew (Suzanne); 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren; He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Fran Pawlik and Zita Pawlik; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Chet was preceded in death by his sisters, Theresa Musial, Julie Kostrzewa, Vicky Wieneke, Irene Packard and brothers Hank, Harold, Ben and Ted Pawlik.

There will be a visitation for Chet on Monday, October 9th from 5-8 P.M. with Rosary at 6:00 P.M. at Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday, October 10th at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church 1791 Marshall Road in Vacaville. He will be laid to rest at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
