Darlene
Propp
Jan 21, 1941 — Mar 22, 2025
Darlene Della Propp, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on March 22, 2025, after a long illness. Born to Benedict and Edith (Pallai) Goggiel in Rockford, Illinois, Darlene was a longtime resident of Vacaville, with many friends and neighbors in the community.
Darlene held several jobs after high school including working at the local Piggly Wiggly in Rockford and later becoming a nurse working at several hospitals in her career. It was during nursing school that she first met Gerald 'Gerry' Propp, who became her sweetheart and they spent some time long-distance dating while he was starting his career in the United States Air Force, before marrying in 1963. They had three children together, Carla, Paula and Darryl.
With kids in tow, Gerry and Darlene were stationed at Altus and Tinker Air Force Bases in Oklahoma and Rhein-Main Air Force Base in Germany, before being stationed for the last time in California at Travis Air Force Base.
Darlene's life was full and rich with many hobbies, family dinners, and spending time with friends. On any given day of the week, Darlene and Gerry could be found bowling, attending mass at St. Joseph's, collecting turtle figurines, playing cards, and doing jigsaw puzzles together. When not busy with their pastimes, they would travel around the world together on cruises, which is something Darlene loved. They celebrated 61 years together on June 15, 2024.
Darlene is remembered by her husband, retired Chief Master Sergeant Gerald Propp, and her children, Carla (Walter) Franklin, Paula (David) Sholberg, and Darryl (Vicki) Propp. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Kayla (Matt) Robinson, Jeremy (Kayley) Propp, Lexi Franklin, and Hannah Sholberg. She is also remembered by her two great-grandchildren, Finn and Aurora Robinson, who lovingly called her 'Great-Gram', as well as many friends and family. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother.
