Edna Meisekothen White

July 15, 1931 – December 11, 2017

Mrs. White peacefully passed away in her home amongst friends Monday December 11, 2017.  A Mass of Resurrection will be said at 1:00 pm January 5 ^th 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Vacaville.

Edna was born July 7 ^th 1931 in Madison Wisconsin.  She was the youngest of 5 children of Edwin Meisekothen and Margaret Ripp Meisekothen.  She attended Edgewood High School and the Univ of Wisconsin graduating with a BBA in 1953. She moved to the Bay Area in 1954.  She worked as an economic analyst for Crown Zellerbach Corp San Francisco for 9 years and then taught in Daly City Schools for 27 years.  She received an MS from San Francisco State in 1966.

She and her husband, Jack, retired to Vacaville in 1989 after selling their almond ranch in Arbuckle, CA.  Active in many volunteer organizations she was past president of American Assoc. of University Women (AAUW) Vacaville, and also had managed the Solano County Retired Teachers Assoc. Scholarship Fund.  Locally she had been a member of the Notre Dame School Board, Vacaville Museum and Garden Club.  She was a proud supporter and season ticket holder for the Solano County Symphony.  She received the Vacaville tribute to Seniors Award in October 2002.  Edna was also an active member of the Palace of Fine Arts and DeYoung Museum in San Francisco.

Edna enjoyed traveling extensively in her adult life throughout North & South America, Asia, Europe and Africa.  She also enjoyed playing golf and bridge, gardening, participating in book clubs and discussion groups, and following Wisconsin Wolverine football.  She especially enjoyed her beloved cats Mimi and Scruffy.

Her brother-in-law William Zamzow of Glenview, Ill survives her.  Her sisters Ruth Zamzow and Ellen Lacenski, brothers Raymond and Bill Meisekothen, brother-in-law Jack Lacenski and husband Jack White preceded her in death.  Over 12 nieces and nephews, 27 great-nieces and nephews, and 10 great-great-nieces and nephews also survive Edna.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements will be handle by Vaca Hills Chapel with interment at Vacaville Elmira Cemetery.
