EDWARD DEMPSEY FATZINGER
Edward Fatzinger, 96, of Vacaville, California, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024. He was born on April 19, 1928, in Philadelphia, PA to Edward and Blanche Fatzinger and was raised by his foster parents, Norman and Alice Springer.
Edward is survived by his two children, John and Debbie, their respective spouses, Victoria and Tom, and his four grandchildren: Tiffany, Brett, Zoe, and Oliver. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Bonnie, who passed away in 2009.
Edward joined the US Navy in 1946 and served as a Navy Corpsman attached to the 1st Marine Division at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir in the Korean War. After his service in the Navy, he began a 15-year career in the US Air Force, retiring in 1967. In 1969, Edward began his second career with the Department of Corrections (CMF) as an MTA. In 1975, Edward helped found and establish Vacaville Christian Schools.
In his free time, Edward enjoyed cutting wood, playing golf, reading his Bible, and spending time with family. He was a member of the American Legion for over 60 years and the most senior SIR (Sons in Retirement) of the SIRS 99 in Vacaville.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:00 am at Valley Church, 5063 Maple Road, Vacaville. Edward will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley VA Cemetery with his beloved wife, Bonnie.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Vacaville Christian Schools or Valley Church in Edward Fatzinger's memory.
