It is with deep sadness the family of Edward George shares the news of his unexpected death on the 5th of January, 2021

He was predeceased by his mother, Bernadette Thompson, father, E. Lawrence George, brother, Clifford, sister-in-law Anne and his grandson, Danny Orchard.  He is survived by his brother Walter George (Carolyn) and Sr. Mary Bernard Joseph P.B.V.M.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Beth Ann (Sullivan) daughters Kathleen (Pat) Orchard, Susan Duman, Diane (Bryan) Bins, Deborah Lundstedt, Jennifer George and  his son, David (Laura) George. He will be remembered by his grandchildren, Marissa, Chris, Danny, Lisa, Bella, Gabe, Miranda, Odin, Tucker and his nieces and nephews.

His family moved to San Francisco when he was 5 years old.  He attended Epiphany Grammar School, Sacred Heart High and entered St. Joseph-St.Patrick Seminary in his junior year.  After five years studying for the priesthood he joined the Navy and spent two years in training at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida.  After completing his military service he finished  his education at the University of San Francisco.  Ed and Beth were married on January 4, 1958.  They were blessed to have 63 wonderful, exciting and love filled years.

Ed loved all sports.  He played golf, tennis, sailed his boat, traveled and authored three published books.  He loved working with people.  He worked for Alameda County as a Social Worker.  His next job with the city of Alameda Police Officer would be the start of a long career with the State of California Department of Corrections.  He would work as an Administrator at San Quentin, Sierra Conservation Center and California Medical Facility in Vacaville.  He was a prison counselor, Parole Agent, Regional Training Director for Northern California and Program Administrator.

He touched many lives, lived life to the fullest and had an incredible way of engaging with people.  He never met a person he did not like.  He will be dearly missed by all who know him.  We will always carry his memory in our hearts.

Due to Covid, a celebration of life will be held in the future when it is safe for groups to gather.
