Eileen Elizabeth Minnick passed away peacefully from this life on the evening of August 17, 2023 after a brief illness. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family during the last hours of her life. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents Alma John White and Naomi (Ashby); her sister Evelyn; her brother Clayton; her husband Loren; her daughter Janene; and her sons Aaron and AJ (Alma John). Eileen is survived by her sons Jared (wife, Elizabeth) and Thomas; her daughter Lora (husband, Rolland Brown); her brothers Jay, Joel and Loren; her sisters Irene, Linda and Sara; 12 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.

Eileen was born on April 21, 1944 in Ontario, Oregon. She was the third of nine children.  During her early years she moved from Oregon to Utah, and then on to Modesto, California.  Growing up she was very active in helping with her siblings and caring for the home, which kept her busy between doing well in school and then moving on to college.  Eileen attended BYU and graduated with a double major in library science and Spanish.  She then took a job with Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.  This is where she attended the singles ward in the Bay Area and met our father, Loren Minnick on an overnight singles activity.  He was swept away by the offering of her bologna sandwich and eventually he got her to date him. They married for time and all eternity in the Oakland California Temple on June 1, 1968. Together, Loren and Eileen moved back to Utah so Loren could finish his degree at BYU.  She had 6 children over the next 11 years, with moves from Utah to Napa, California and then to Vacaville.  For many years she and our father worked together in a blueprinting and graphics business. After her youngest was born, she returned to school to obtain her teaching credential and taught elementary school in Fairfield, California until she retired.  Within a couple of years of retiring, she and Loren moved back to Utah to be closer to her daughter.  In 2015, her beloved husband passed.  She often mentioned him and how she longed to be with him and the many others that have passed before her.

Eileen devoted her life to service of all kinds.  She was completely devoted to doing anything and give everything she could to her family.  She was extremely faithful to her Heavenly Father and showed this in her actions of daily life.  Quite often at night, her children would gather round her bed and read faith filled materials and scriptures.  They would catch her many times on her knees, quietly whispering and outpouring her heart and mind in prayer to Him. She served many years in the temple and in the latter days of her life, longed to serve there even though her mind would not let her remember what was needed to do so.  She spoke of this service and her faith to her very last moments.  She will be missed by many, and her service will be remembered always, but we send her with our love to rest in her eternal home.

A Friends and Family Gathering will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 10-10:45am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 360 Portsmouth Ave, Vacaville, CA 95687. Funeral services will be held in the same location at 11:00am. Dedication of the Grave will be immediately following at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints General Missionary Fund.
