It is with deep sadness that the family of Elizabeth Adleheide Stroer-Martell, age 89, a Holocaust survivor, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2021, Adel's Residential Care Home Inc. in Fairfield, California. She was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Joseph Martell Sr. Opa Jo Hann Stroer and Oma Maria Hammer-Stroer. Her mother Marie Seifret Stroer, father Ludwig Stroer, brother Honz Stroer, sisters which includes her twin Eaner Stroer, Tressiea Stroer, Anna Stroer, and Gisala Stroer. Her daughter Christina Marie Martell-Brubaker, her son in law SFPD – EEOC Robert Allen Fitzer II, Johnathan Sanders and James Cox. Her grandson Denny Bradford Martell Jr. Her great grandchildren Ernesto Castillo Jr., and great granddaughter Angelica Marie Martell.

She is survived by her son Victor Martell and Denny Bradford Sr. and Colleen Lynn Martell, John Edward Serb, Paul Gunther and Oliver Franklin. Her daughters Erika Heidi Marie Martell-Bates, Heide Marie Martell-Fitzer. Her grandchildren Jessica Heide Marie and Ernesto Castillo, Destiny Briggette and Jason Raymond Root, Sara Lynn and Levi Lewis, Elizabeth Marie Gonzales, Jacob John Serb, Jeremy and Stephanie Brubaker, Levi Michael Brubaker and Robert Allen Fitzer III. Great grandchildren Erika Marie Hurtado, Alexander John Root, Jesse Gonzales, Jenna Lynn McDonald, Caitlin Rise Root, Angelo Castillo, Catalina Castillo, Emiliano Accradi, Mia Martell and Great Great Grandson Nicholas Nathan Hurtado.

She was born in Neiden, Saxony Germany. She lived in Germany with her family, her dad was a furniture maker and her mother was a seamstress. They lived happily until WWII after that they were picked up by the Nazi and forced on a railway cattle car then taken to Auschwitz concentration camp where they were made to work. Once they got released three years later only her and her Oma were the only survivors. She later on went to meet Master Sergeant Wilfred Joseph Martell Sr. of the US Army, who was there to help the efforts of WWII. They later married while still being stationed in Germany.

Once they left Germany she went on and became a legal United States citizen after studying very hard to pass. She was very proud of that accomplishment. The army took them to many states and they ended up settling in Allendale CA. While she was working at the Milk Farm she could only speak German at the time and later learned English. Her joke was that I Love Lucy taught her English. She worked various jobs until she started working at Basic the onion factory in downtown Vacaville for 18 years until they finally shut their doors permanently. She was a Caregiver for the Rico Family (Former Owner – Vacaville Reporter), Nanny for Barry (Lovely late Kathy) Thomas-Rico Family and a lifelong Catholic.

She loved to crochet and knit in her free time. Always making dolls or kitchen towels for neighbors and friends. She was very talented with a crochet needle. She was always helping and spending time with all of her grandchildren. Due to the pandemic, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, and caring grandmother. She will be extremely missed. She was loved by all.
