Obituary

Elvira Cueva Sevilla, born April 21, 1938 in Purificacion, Jalisco, Mexico, passed away on April 16, 2021, while at Vallejo Kaiser Hospital. Elvira's parents are Jose and Francisca Cueva. Elvira was the first child of Mr. And Mrs.. Cueva. As the oldest, Elvira helped her parents with the younger children filling as a second mother to the older children. Elvira attended Vacaville schools. Elvira married Jose C. Sevilla on October 28,1956.

Elvira is survived by her step-mother Rosario Cueva; siblings, Guadalupe Cueva Salazar, Joseph Cueva, Rose Cueva Ramos, Sylvia Cueva, Carolyn Cueva Cabrera, Rocio Duran and Aberto Duran.

Elvira is also survived by her daughters Carmen Cervantes (Chuck George) and Diana Sevilla (Dan LeBard ), her grandchildren Santos Calamaco, Jose Hernandez (Samantha DeLaRosa) and Jessica Hernandez (Sam McCray).  In addition, she is survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Many are Vacaville residents.

Elvira is great grandmother to Leonard, Danielle, Cameron and Kylee Skattebo; Mason and Maia McCray; and Lucia, Sofia and Ava Hernandez. She is also great-great grandmother to Leonard Skattebo V.

Elvira was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Francisca Cueva.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter Maria Elena Sevilla and siblings, Tony Cueva, Richard Cueva, Elva Lerma, David Cueva, Eddie Cueva and Roberto Cueva.

Elvira worked as a seasonal worker for Basic Onion Factory in Vacaville, Bilingual aide, fruit cutter, In Home Support Services (IHSS). Elvira retired from IHSS at the end of 2017 at the age of 79.

Family was very important to Elvira. Growing up and into adulthood the family congregated regularly which became weekend events. Cooking for so many became a family tradition, in which most everyone, young and old, had some sort of role. Elvira had a big heart. She opened her home to anyone needing a place to stay.  Elvira's hobbies were gardening, cooking, traveling and gambling.

A viewing will be held at Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville on April 28, 2021, between the hours of 5 and 8 pm. A service will be held at Vaca Hills Chapel on April 29, 2021, beginning at 1 pm.
