Emma Lucille Woolley Goss was born in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, CA on June 24, 1927 to LeRoie Woolley Sr. and Emma Leone Dunne Woolley.  Lucille was one of five children born into this happy, hardworking family, and was always proud of all that her parents and siblings accomplished.

Lucille was a strong girl and full of confidence.  She played multiple instruments, including the trumpet, drums and piano, and at an early age was drum major for her marching band.  She was even in the Rose Parade during her high school years. Throughout her life, she loved music, and always encouraged her children to develop and share their musical talents.

She always said that her father was loved by all and a friend to everyone, and that was Lucille. On March 21,1947 she married the man of her dreams, James Arthur Goss, who she met on a blind date in Utah.  They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City LDS temple and they had 6 children: 3 boys and 3 girls.

There was no one that she did not like, or was not praying for, especially family.  They were her crown jewels and there was nothing she liked better than to spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren,  and great-great grandchildren.

Her work experience was vast.  As a youth she worked as a Rosie the Riveter in her uncle's machine shop.  As a new bride she worked at a preschool at UCLA.

In Manhattan, Kansas, where her husband, Jim, taught at Kansas State University, she started her own Nursery School which she taught for approximately 30 years in her home.  Lucille also taught Sunday School to children (ages 2-5) for over 30 years.  For many years, she sold Avon (on the side) because she liked the products and loved associating with the people. Around 1977, she worked as a volunteer and then as the activity director at a Care Home in Manhattan, Kansas.

When they moved to Scott City, Kansas in 1979, she worked as a Speech Therapist for the local schools and as an assistant to the City Librarian.  She was also actively involved in the schools, the community, and their activities, including serving as a judge for the high school debate and forensics competitions.

In 1983, they moved to Lamar, Colorado for a short period (about 2 months) and then they decided to move on to Fairfield, California to be close to family again. They lived in Fairfield for about 8 years before she lost her sweetheart to cancer in May of 1991. During that time, Lucille had been working as a caregiver for the elderly.  She cared for several Alzheimer patients in her home and also worked in her son's Care Homes.

Working as a noon duty supervisor at Laurel Creek Elementary School, helping with the grandchildren, and her ever faithful church work kept her life busy and happy through her remaining 30 years.

She also loved sports, Louis L'Amour western books and her western movies.

Lucille is survived by her 6 children:  Larry (Joan), Ray (Shirley), Linda (Barry Adams), Gerry (Cristina), Liana (Peter Chapman, deceased) and Lori (Ray Landin) and to date: 48 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

She will truly be missed, but we rejoice in the knowledge that she is united with her husband, parents, siblings, and so many friends who have gone before.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 2700 Camrose Avenue in Fairfield, California.  The wearing of masks is recommended.

Feel free to wear bright colors if you desire.  Lucille loved bright colors.
