Everard Jude
D'Costa
Sep 6, 1964 — Mar 7, 2021
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of a nurturing and compassionate husband, father,
brother, and son.
Everard Jude, the son of Patrick and Dorothy D'Costa, was born on September 6, 1964, in Nairobi, Kenya. He
grew up in London, England with his two siblings, Rodney and Marina D'Costa. In 1986, Everard emigrated to the United
States and settled in San Francisco, where he met his wife, Lucia. The two celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in
2020.
Everard's career in public services spanned 23 years, beginning in 1998 as an Office Assistant at CalTrans. In
2008, he joined the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), and by December of 2018, worked
his way up from a Staff Services Analyst to Staff Services Manager I. He was seen as a brother to many of his coworkers,
and was recently recognized for his management and commitment to team building during the Work-from-Home order.
Everard was known as a family man above all. His interests included watching the English soccer team, Liverpool
Football Club, and car shows/races at home on TV. He translated his interest in cars into a hobby - he loved fixing up his
project truck, a 1998 Toyota Tacoma, whenever he had a spare moment. When he wasn't working on his truck or home
improvement, his favorite way to wind down from long days at work was by grilling an assortment of red meats, paired
with a glass of whiskey.
Unfortunately, the devastating pandemic struck in 2020. After contracting the virus, Everard was brought to the
hospital in January and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) three days later. He spent the remainder of his life,
though unable to see or speak, virtually surrounded by loved ones. He fought a long, gruesome battle of 50+ days until the
virus took a toll on his body. He passed away peacefully on March 7, 2021 at 11:44 AM.
Everard leaves behind his wife and two daughters, Kimberly (29) and Kelly (19). He will be dearly loved and
missed by all those whose hearts he touched.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
Revelation 21:4
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or
pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
