Ferdinand Dio Datuin, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away in his sleep on May 3, 2023, at the age of 67, after 14 years of battling colon cancer.

He was born on December 22, 1955, in Manila, Philippines, as the fourth of 6 siblings. He was part of the choir at the all-boys St. Vincent Seminary in Bulacan when he met his wife, Edna, from the all-girls choir at St. Isabel College in Manila in 1975. He credits meeting Edna as his reason for not entering the priesthood and graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Letran University in Manila. He went on to begin his 26-year long career in the United States Navy as Personnel Specialist – Chief (PSC) before retiring due to his diagnosis. His dedication to his country earned him several commendations, including the Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal.

Ferdinand was a loving husband to his wife, Edna, and a proud father to his children: Merechelle, Dennis, and Eryleena. He adored his three grandchildren, Logan, Avery, and Anna Kayleila and he cherished the joy and laughter they created together. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ferdinand had a passion for golf, mahjong, Korean dramas, smooth jazz and classical music, and racing in his red Lexus. He loved spending time with friends on the course or around the table. He had a great sense of humor and could always be counted on to check in on his friends in need.

Ferdinand will be deeply missed by his family, surviving siblings Marlene, Evelyn, and Marcelino Jr., extended family, and good friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend Ferdinand's viewing on Thursday, May 18th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville, CA. A Requiem Mass will be held on Friday, May 19th at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vacaville followed by his burial at the National Cemetery in Dixon at 12:30 pm.

Rest in peace, Ferdinand. Your service, kindness, and love will never be forgotten. You will be greatly missed.
