Francisca H. (Maciel) Zickowski

October 13, 1930 - June 2, 2024

On June 2, 2024, our beloved Francisca Herminia Zickowski passed away at a young 93 years of age. Originally from the Azore Island of Pico, Portugal. While traveling to Terceira, Island she met her future husband Edward Zickowski, an airman in the USAF. Prior to moving to the US, they had two daughters, Maria and Catherine. Their son, Edward Jr was born in Washington State and daughter Nina was born in Tripoli Libya, Africa.

She learned English through comics and watching "I Love Lucy" on TV. In 1958, she became a proud US citizen while living in Michigan. Francisca and Ed settled in Vacaville when he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base. For over 75 years, Francisca dedicated her life to being a loving military wife and homemaker, raising four children and being a grandmother to 11 grandchildren as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Her beloved husband, Edward Zickowski Sr., passed away in 1987, Francisca was also preceded in death by daughter, Catherine Hall in 2010. She is survived by her three remaining children: Maria Zickowski of Dixon, and Edward Jr (Peggy) and Nina Hollaway (Don), all residing in Vacaville. Additionally, she leaves behind 11 grandchildren: David Hanley of Washington State, Denise Lomeli of Dixon, Christine Simons, Lori Allen, Jared Zickowski, Tim Zickowski, Aaron Hollaway, Shannon Viertel, Michelle Buchanan all of Vacaville, Patricia Gill of Illinois and Anthony Buchanan of Wisconsin. Also left behind are numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren ("Tripple G")

A viewing will be Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 5:00 P.M – 8:00 P.M at Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home; 524 Elmira Road, Vacaville, CA 95687.

A funeral service will be Friday, June 28, 2024 10:00 A.M at Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home; 524 Elmira Road, Vacaville, CA 95687.

Burial to follow at Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery; 522 Elmira Road, Vacaville, CA 95687
