Obituary

Frank Garcia, affectionately known as "Papa", passed away on July 21, 2020 at home surrounded by his family and friends He was 88 years old. Born on January 24 , 1932 to Frank Z. Garcia and Antonette Garcia. Frank spent his entire life living in Vacaville. He joined the Air Force after high school graduation in 1950. Frank decided on a postal career in Vacaville, Ca. where he worked for 33 years. Upon retirement he spent another 14 years as a highway contractor driver for the USPS in the Capay Valley.

Frank loved walking with his son Frank at Alamo Park, talking on the phone daily with daughter Karen, and sitting in the back yard in the mornings with his dog "Teddy" on his lap. He loved discussing politics, gardening, watching "Jeopardy" and "Wheel of Fortune", attending church, and vacationing in Las Vegas with his family. He was proud of his Spanish heritage and his memories of childhood were priceless. Wisdom, integrity, generosity,  and a wonderful sense of humor are traits that describe him best.

He is survived by wife of 43 years Melody (Taylor) Garcia, his children Frank Garcia, Tim Garcia, daughter Karen (Garcia) Balcom, stepdaughters Gaylene Brister, Vicki Seidel, sister Marie (Garcia) Stapp (husband Howard), 9 grandchilden, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, numerous nephews, cousins, and a niece. Frank was predeceased by his first wife of 24 years Wanda (Dahlem) Garcia, stepsons Steven Brister, Jason Palmer, sister Elaine (Garcia) Hall and (brother-in-law Jerry Hall).

Frank will be interred with full military honors in a graveside service at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery on Friday, July 31, 2020, at 10:00 am.
