Obituary

Our loved one Frederick Chism was born January 29, 1961 in Louisville, Kentucky, to Geraldine and Walter Chism, the second child of three siblings. Fred passed away peacefully with his wife and 3 children by his side. Fred graduated from Fairdale High School as one of the top football athletes in his school, enlisting into USAF thereafter where he served 13 years with 645 70 as a Supply Technician and Red Horse in (Korea), prior to separating honorably in 1992. In 1998 he married his soulmate Elizabeth whom he shared 24 beautiful years with.

Our loved one Fred was a tenacious worker and an active member of the USAF. Fred also belonged to the West Oakland Church Of Christ where attended bible study and fellowshipped with his church family. Fred touched many lives with his words of wisdom, ebullient personality and infectious smile. Some are defined by what they say, our father was defined by what he did. Some define strength as a physical attribute, our father defined strength with resilience. Selflessness and generosity were two traits that highlighted who Fred was. Fred also appreciated life and exemplified kindness whomever he encountered. Everyday was a fight, yet he did not fight for himself only; he fought for his family, he fought for his friends, he fought to demonstrate that all is possible if you believe and never give up.
Fred's interests included family bbq's, skydiving, traveling, visiting the beach in SF and Monterey including thrift shopping. He devoted much of his time and energy helping many people and spending time with his children and grandchildren who he loved very much. The final year of our father's life was extremely difficult, and he wasn't ashamed to admit it. However, he chose to stand his ground, not with a grimace, but with a smile that questioned life, "Is That All You Got"?
In Fred's last days he showered his wife, his best friend and partner in Christ what true love is. Fred loved everyone around him like Christ loves us. He will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

Fred is survived by his wife Elizabeth Chism, sister Carolyn Warren; brothers, Anthony Chism and Sidney Ray; two daughters and one son, April Chism, Tenisha DeMassis-Chism, Alonzo Chism and eight grandchildren, De'Jah, Thomas, Malani, Everett III, Kami, Konstantina, Danilo and King. Beloved Aunt Mary & Milton, including other family members and close friends.
There will be a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home 524 Elmira Road in Vacaville.  He will be laid to rest at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Road in Dixon following the Memorial Service at 1:00 P.M.
