Gary Gene Schafer, 75 of Woodland, passed away on March 6, 2024. He was born in Woodland, California to John and Marie Schafer on March 31, 1948. Gary honorably served our country in the United States Army. Gary received many decorations from the military including the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Combat Badge, 2 Overseas Service Bars, Purple Heart, Air Medal for Valor and Bronze Star for Valor.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, his children Marci and Brian Crets, Kristin and Andy Bunch, Joshua Schafer, Megan and Brandon Boedigheimer and Nicholas Schafer as well as his 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Gary will be interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery with full military honors in a private ceremony.
