Gertrude "Trudy" Wischer
Trudy Wischer, 79, of Fairfield, died on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Vacaville at the Buck Serenity Home care facility after a short illness.

Born April 2, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Leo and Mary Spearman Burke. On January 19, 1963 she married Robert Henry Wischer at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church in Stockton.

Trudy was a long-time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a member of the Legion of Mary for over 55 years. She would visit the sick at the local nursing and rehab centers and help set up for monthly Mass. Trudy also was an avid prayer warrior and belonged to the local "Prayer Line" telephone group. She would happily add your prayer intentions to her own extensive list. She was very concerned about others and would often call to "check in" on her friends and family. Trudy was happiest living out her Catholic faith by being active at church, participating in Legion functions, and being with her extended family. Trudy will be lovingly missed.

Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wischer, her daughter, Laura Marie Wischer, her parents, Leo and Mary Burke, her brothers, William "Bill" and Leo Burke, sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Walters, Virginia Mary Breakfield, and Patricia Fiori. Survivors include her brother, Patrick Burke of Stockton, CA, three sisters-in-law, a daughter, Jennifer, a son-in-law, Erik, a granddaughter, Christine Hope, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM at the Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville on Sunday, March 1, 2020.

A Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Gertrude Wischer will be 10:30 AM Monday, March 2, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at the Fairfield-Suisun Cemetery A reception will immediately follow.
