Irene Adelaide Bruce, age 104 of Fairfield, passed away peacefully in her home on  Tuesday Oct 18, 2022, with family by her side.

She is preceded in death by her three sisters Lucinne (Hill City KS), Corrine (Hill City KS), Florence (Hill City KS) and two brothers Tommy (Morris, IL) and Wilfred (Fairfield, CA) and son Delbert Hensel (Denver, CO). She is survived by her loving daughter, Jeanne Louise Goldbach, son-in-law Greg Goldbach (Fairfield); seven grandchildren Michelle Goldbach-Johnson (Greg and Jeanne) of Hermosa Beach, CA, Ricky Bruce Goldbach (Greg and Jeanne) of Fairfield CA, and Christopher Goldbach (Greg and Jeanne) of Redding, CA; Ronald Hensel (Delbert and Camilla Hensel), Richard Hensel (Delbert and Camilla Hensel), Russ Hensel (Delbert and Camilla Hensel ), Randy Hensel (Delbert and Camilla Hensel ), of the Denver CO area; twelve great-grandchildren, Scout (Cory Johnson and Michelle Goldbach-Johnson), Rick Goldbach Jr., Jordan, Daniel and June (Ricky Bruce Goldbach), Jason and Alisa (Ron and Marilyn Hensel), Cameron and Senna (Richard Hensel), Kristen, Kale, Kit and Kyler (Russ and Tina Hensel); and eight great-great grandchildren Christian (Rick Goldbach Jr); Julianna, Lola and Ryland (Jason and Michelle Hensel); Truman, Emma and Alivia (Alisa and Ben Chambers), and Maya (Kit and Taryn Hensel).

Irene met and married her husband Jean Louis Bruce in Denver just before WWII, and spent forty-seven years with him, traveling and living on Johnson Field Japan, Tampa Florida, Fairfield California, Wiesbaden West Germany, Grand Forks North Dakota and lastly Fairfield California (Travis AFB). Irene loved her family, friends and home. She was a civil servant for thirty-five years, and has been a member of the Fairfield community since 1950. Irene enjoyed spending time with her family in the Lassen National Forest. We will always remember her kindness, generosity, sense of humor and love.

The funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov 4, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 2700 Dover Street Fairfield, California, followed at 12:00 by a family burial at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery 1801 Union Ave, Fairfield, CA.

In leu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alhzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
