James Milton Adkins Jr. was born February 21, 1945 in Huntington, W. VA and grew up in Canton, Ohio. Upon completion of high school, he joined the Navy and spent his career at sea on submarines, the USS Baya and the USS Carbonaro. After they were decommissioned, Jim went on to four ammunition ships. He was a plank owner of the USS Kiska, then on to USS Mt. Hood, USS Kilauea and retired off the USS Flint as Chief Warrant Officer Four.
Jim's next career was with Chevron in Richmond where he was assigned to a tugboat. After ten years with Chevron, Jim decided to do a career change.
Jim went to nursing school in Ft Wayne, IN, returned to Vacaville and went to work for Vitas as a hospice nurse.
Jim is survived by wife Faith; son, James III (Danielle), grandsons Chance, Broden, and Lucas; brother Joseph (Wendy) and sister Carol Sample all of Pensacola, Florida.
Scattering of Jim's cremated remains will be at sea in Honolulu, HI later in the year
