Joe Dorris Moore was born on January 17, 1944 to Marvalee and Alvert Moore in Henderson, Kentucky.  He was one of three children.

He enlisted in the Air Force in 1962, served five tours of duty in the Vietnam War and retired 30 years later as Chief Master Sergeant.  He was named The United States Air Force in Europe First Sergeant of the Year and The Noncommissioned Officer of the Year at Lowry Air Force Base. During his service, Moore was the senior enlisted adviser for the Space and Missile Test Organization, which housed the LGM-118A Peacekeeper, the Atlas H Launch System and the Titan 34D rocket. He continued to show his dedication to this country by selflessly serving fellow veterans as a mentor and by assisting veterans with their benefit claims. His sacrifice and dedication to his military family was recognized in 2010 when Joe was honored as Veteran of Year for California's 8th Assembly District and in 2012 when he was recognized by the Community Action Council for his support of veterans.

Joe was a humble man who liked to fish, to watch horse racing and to cheer his beloved San Francisco 49ers.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly, his son, John, his daughter-in-law, Kelly, and his granddaughters, Alana and Lilah.

Joe will be remembered for his leadership, strength of spirit, kindness, gentle smile, authenticity, service to country and impact on countless people. We love you Joe.
