John Richard Strusinski, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend died on May 29th, 2021 at age 84. John was born to John and Lois Strusinski on January 25th, 1937 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He joined the US Navy in 1956 where his first assignment was a tour of sea duty on the Greer County. From there he was stationed in London where he worked at the US Embassy and met his wife Barbara. They were married in Ireland on September 12th, 1961 began a family shortly after. John's military career took him and his young family to South Carolina, Long Beach, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Michigan. He was also stationed in Korea for a time while the family stayed in Northern Ireland. John was eventually transferred to Mare Island in 1977, settling in Vacaville. He retired from the Navy as Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1979. John loved to travel, play cards, and spend time with family. He was known for his jovial outlook of life and hearty laugh that elicited joy in those around him. He was a long time and active parishioner at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church. He and his wife were among a dedicated number of foundation families. He was heavily involved in fundraising as parochial facilities developed and chaired several campaigns. John was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, son Conn, and brothers David & Thomas. He is survived by his daughters Anna and Maura, and sons John, Paul, and Joe as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing at Vaca Hills Chapel from 9:00 to 10:00 am on June 11th, 2021 followed by a Funeral Mass at St Joseph's Catholic Church at 11:30 am. He will be interred at the VA Cemetery in Dixon, California.
