Obituary

Jovita J. Gutierrez, at the age of 89, passed in her sleep in Rancho Cordova, Ca on March 15, 2019. She was surrounded by family. Jovita was born to Maria and Paulo Javier in the Philippines on February 16, 1930. She moved to Washington D.C to pursue a career in nursing. After becoming a nurse, she started a new life with her husband, Camilo Gutierrez, and eventually had two sons, Frank and Gino and two daughters, Ann and Camille. Jovita enjoyed being with her family and traveling with her sisters. She was proud to be an OBGYN R.N. at Kaiser Hospital, before eventually becoming a travel nurse after retiring. Jovita could spend time with her grandchildren as a camp nurse, or visiting exciting places all over United States. Her favorite hobbies included shopping, cooking, and knitting. There have been many who have tasted her great cooking and/or received a beautifully hand knitted afghan from her over the years. Her life was not without loss. She sadly saw the early passing of her husband and two sons.  Despite this heart-breaking loss, she still had a wealth of family in her sisters, her two married daughters, daughter-in-law, Julie, two sons-in-law, Leonard and Jason, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great friend of the family, Bob Gotham.  She was loved dearly by all, and her grandchildren and her great grandchildren were always there to put a smile on her face.

There will be a memorial service at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home 524 Elmira Road in Vacaville, California.
