Obituary

Karen Anderson passed away peacefully  surrounded by her family on March 15, 2019, after losing her battle to melanoma cancer.  She fought the cancer these past six years with all her strength and never gave up her faith in God.  She lived her life with smiles, joy and filled with many activities.  She knew she was in God's Hands.
Karen was born in Beeville, Texas to Mike and Glenda Hood.  She was born to travel!  The family moved from Beeville to New Orleans, then to Corpus Christi, Texas and Denver, Colorado, arriving in Seattle, Washington in time for Karen to begin kindergarten.
Karen attend ed Kent, Washington schools, graduating from Kentridge High in l987.  She loved life, enjoyed playing the piano, being on the Chatelaine drill team, spending time with friends and all church activities.  She graduated from Hope College, Holland, Michigan fulling her life dream of becoming a nurse.
Karen began her career in Spokane, Washington working at Deaconess Hospital in the pediatric/oncology department.  She was active in her church, especially the college and professional group.  In 1994 Keahi Anderson was assigned to Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane.  He began attending this same church group where he met Karen.  They were married on March 30, 1996.  They relocated to Vacaville, California in 2000 when Keahi accepted a Travis Air Force Base assignment.  Karen began working in a pediatric unit at North Bay hospital in Fairfield, California.
The couple had two children, Jennifer and Sean.  Karen's children were a blessing and joy in her life.  Family life was full of adventures and activities.  Camping, swimming, traveling to see family and friends, and exploring new places were all part of their lives.
Karen knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior and trusted Him her entire life.  She loved mission trips and traveled to India and Ecuador and was a part of several youth trips as the nurse counselor.  She was active in her local church, Faith Community Church, teaching children's Sunday school classes.  She also was a Bible Study Fellowship leader, again teaching children about Jesus.  She felt all children should meet her faithful God at an early age.  Karen is now in the hands of her Lord Jesus with a new body completely free of cancer.
Karen is survived by her husband Keahi, children Jennifer and Sean, parents Mike and Glenda Hood, brother Jon, his wife Susan, niece Ella, and many relatives and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her four grandparents, Leo and Margaret Hood and Harold and Nellie Haar.
