Karen Luke, a cherished sister, aunt and friend, died peacefully on May 9, 2023, at the age of 71.
Karen was born on December 19, 1951 in Vallejo, California to Joseph and Norma Luke. She had a bright and cheerful personality that inspired many, and was the embodiment of joy and compassion. She was always willing to help, comfort or encourage others. She was a loving friend who enjoyed baking, traveling and living her life to the fullest. She loved the ocean and enjoyed many seaside vacations to Hawaii and Asilomar.
She graduated from the University of California Riverside and started her own daycare. She enriched the lives of many children who still remember her fondly. She went on to an amazing career at the Veterans Home of California-Yountville for over 25 years and retired as Director of Operations. She was a longtime resident of Vallejo before moving to Vacaville where she became a beloved member of the Diamond Grove community.
She is survived by her sister, Terri Trujillo ; her nephews, Joseph and Pete Trujillo; her niece, Laurie Lopez; her grandniece, Arielle Lopez; her loving companion, Plum and many friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Norma.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 12:00 PM-3:00 PM (open house) at the Diamond Grove Clubhouse: 201 Heirloom Ct. Vacaville, CA 95687. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ASPCA and Feeding America charities, two causes that Karen loved and supported.
