Kevin F.
Lusby
Feb 13, 1953 — Dec 25, 2023
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Kevin F. Lusby of Vacaville, California, on December 25, 2023. Kevin passed away at Kaiser Hospital following a short illness with his loving wife, Kathy, near his side.
Kevin was born in Frederick, Maryland, on February 13, 1953, to Joseph and Rose Lusby. In 1956, the family moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida, where Kevin quickly embraced the beach and surf lifestyle. His first job, delivering newspapers at age 12, instilled a strong work ethic and a sense of responsibility in him. Yet, Kevin's love for the ocean and surfing often took precedence, as he was known to skip school when the waves looked too good to pass up. In 1972, Kevin relocated to Fairfield, California, with his mother and stepfather.
Following graduation, Kevin mastered various trades with great enthusiasm. He worked in the refinery and structural steel industries for 25 years. His diverse career also included working in a steel mill, as a realtor, and as a business owner. He took great pride in his work and cherished the relationships and fulfillment each job brought.
In 1984, Kevin met the love of his life, Kathy. They married in 1985 and had three children: Kevin M., Kyle, and Kayla. Kevin was a caring, loving, and devoted husband. As a father, he coached, mentored, and showered his children with love and support in all their endeavors. His children were his pride and joy, and they grew up knowing that with their father's guidance, nothing was impossible. Up to his final day, he continued to express his love, pride, and gratitude for his life and family.
Kevin enjoyed outdoor activities of all kinds: surfing, skiing, boating, fishing, motorcycle riding, and golf. He had a true zest for life and embraced it to the fullest. In recent years, he kept busy with a variety of home projects. He could build and fix almost anything. He loved playing fantasy football, watching sports, spoiling the family dogs, saving wildlife, gardening, and, most importantly, spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Kevin remained optimistic and resilient despite facing numerous health challenges over the past two decades. His family and friends greatly admired these qualities in him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his ability to connect with everyone he met. He was caring, loyal, brave, and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathy; children, Kevin M. (Tricia) Lusby, Kyle (Jessika) Lusby, Kayla (Andrew) Baker; grandchildren, Emily, Ellie, Logan, Kenna, Olivia, and Owen; brothers, Joseph Lusby II, Dennis (Janet) Lusby; beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Lusby; mother, Rose (William) Adams; and brother, Mark Adams.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2023, at Vaca Hills Chapel, 524 Elmira Rd. Vacaville, CA 95687. Interment will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Kidney Fund, Suisun Wildlife Center, or the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home.
