Larry William Houchins, 71, a resident of Vacaville, CA passed away peacefully on January 12, 2023 after fighting a 12 year long battle with cancer at his home with his loving family by his side.

Larry was born October 19, 1951 in Beckley, West Virginia to Hubert and Anna (Humphreys) Houchins.

Larry served his country with pride from 1970-1976. He joined the Marines and was stationed at Hunters Point in San Francisco.

Larry worked for Tosco Refinery for 38 years. He retired a well-respected leader that supported the overall safety for the employees of the refinery. Following retirement, Larry pursued an opportunity to serve children in his community and so took a job driving school bus for Vacaville Unified School District. He spent countless hours serving his community in various ways most notably with the California Highway Patrol and Kaiser Permanente.

Larry entered into marriage to Valerie Gammage on October 20, 1972. Celebrating 50 years of marriage, Larry and Valerie have created a loving family throughout those years.

Larry was survived by his wife Valerie, sons Troy and Todd, Daughter in law Christi, grandchildren Trevor, Gabriel, Mia, Mallory, Justyce, DeMae and Jada, great grandchildren Tyberias and Loretta, siblings Linda Holt and Jeff Houchins. Additional family are Pam Narodzonek, Tammy and JR Casatico, Roy and Karen Gage, Fred and Heather Hoffman, nieces and nephews and many friends that are family.

Larry loved to ride his Harley! He loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He loved the water and ocean destinations, whether it was the east coast or the west coast was a favorite place for Larry and Val (and Molly girl of course) to spend their time together. Family and friends were very important to Larry and he loved with all his heart.

Services to be held at Vacaville Mortuary on February 2, 2023 at 11am.
