Obituary

Lee T. Bennett passed away on Wednesday, August 1, at the age of 82. He spent the last few hours of his life surrounded by loved ones.

He was born July 26, 1936 in Polk, PA, the son of Herbert and Elenore Bennett.

At the age of 17, Lee joined the United States Air Force. Shortly thereafter he moved to California, where he met and married his wife of 61 years, Mary (Mitzi). Together they raised 5 children. After leaving the Air Force Lee worked at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard and in 1968 became a Firefighter for the City of Vallejo.

Lee's first love was his family, but the Vallejo Fire Department and his Firefighter Family were a close second. One of the proudest accomplishments in Lee's career was starting the Fire Cadet Program, where he groomed many young men into becoming firefighters.

In his retirement years he enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and traveling in his R.V.

He is survived by his wife Mary, children, Terri, Scott (Judy), Kelly, Stacey (Scott), and Chris (Suzie), 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Elenore, and brother, Bruce.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Lee on Sunday, August 19 at 1:00 pm at the Leisure Town Center, 100 Sequoia Way, Vacaville, CA.

In lieu of flowers please donate to either:  Alzheimer's Association – alz.org or Firefighter's Burn Institute – ffburn.org , in Lee's honor.
