Louis Tobin was more than just a name; he was a testament to a life well-lived, marked by adventure, sacrifice, and a profound love for both his family and his country. On December 10th, 2023, this remarkable man passed away peacefully at the age of 84, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come. Born August 28th, 1939, raised in San Bernadino, CA, Lou's early years were filled with adventure and an insatiable desire to explore the world around him. Lou was the son of Jack and Grace Tobin, and brother to Chris Lamn. He spent his childhood in the sky, flying with his father, Jack, all over Southern California. He must have liked it up there, too, joining the Airforce as a pilot in January 1959, serving courageously in Vietnam, and retiring in 1989. Even after retiring from the Airforce, Lou was actively seeking adventure through flying, joining the Air Show Circuit in the Summer of 1989. Lou took pride throughout his career instructing other pilots. When he wasn't teaching the professionals, he was letting his grandchildren copilot, and was even Harrison Ford's Instructor Pilot for "Six Days, Seven Nights" in 1997. Not only was he committed to his career and country, but to his family, too. Lou married Nancy Kern in 1960, and they had Evelyn and Louis Jr. (John) soon after. Nancy passed in 1983, leaving her legacy to her children and Lou. Lou then met Betsy Peacock, and they were happily married in 1991. Lou's son, John, married Kathy Tobin, and they had children of their own, Cody and Kelsey Tobin. Lou was adored by his family. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Always supportive, uplifting, with infinite amounts of wisdom and advice.  He truly loved flying, his family, and his many friends. His legacy is one of inspiration, and his infectious smile, abundant heart, and compassionate soul will live through the many memories he created with every person lucky enough to know him.
