Obituary

Luanne Marcia Dierking passed away peacefully at her home on May 20th, 2026 at the age of 84. She was born to her parents Fred and Evelyn Hein on January 12th, 1942, their only child and beloved daughter.

Luanne was born in Spokane, Washington, where she grew up and went to school, graduating from North Central High School in 1959, being involved in the school paper and the Girls' Glee club. She worked at The Crescent department store and at the local Garland Theater while in Spokane, and she later moved to San Francisco, working at the famous IMagnum and Sears department store. In 1964, she went on a trip with girlfriends from work to Hawaii. It was on the beach of Waikiki where she met her future husband  Ron, who was in the army stationed in Hawaii. After two dates the five days she was there, Luanne returned to Spokane. After a year of Ron writing to her every week after she went home, it appeared that Ron was going to be sent to Vietnam. He asked her to come back to Hawaii to get married, to which she said "yes". Ron and Luanne were married on June 12th, 1965. In September, Ron was discharged, just months before his outfit went to Vietnam in December, so Ron picked Luanne up at her parents' home in Spokane, meeting her parents for the first time. They settled in La Puente, CA, with Ron going back to work for Thrifty Drug as they raised their two children, Todd and Jodi. With Ron on the road often, Luanne took on much of the responsibilities of taking care of things at home. After 15 years of living in Southern California, the family moved to Vacaville when Ron was transferred, and this is where she lived the rest of her life for 46 years.

Luanne enjoyed ice skating and sewing in her younger years. She was an avid bowler and part of the Saturday Mixed Rowdies League in Vacaville with her husband Ron for many years, as well as a midweek league she bowled in with her friends. She volunteered at her daughter's elementary school, provided childcare for friends and family and was always there to help those around her. She became a fan of the San Francisco 49ers, and attended several games. After her kids had grown up, she spent many years as a grocery store demonstrator, which she enjoyed because she got to meet and talk to so many people. She loved to spend time with her friends and, in her later years, would go out with them weekly as the "Lunch Bunch." She met a lot of people with a smile and love, as those who knew Luanne experienced her kindness and thoughtfulness.

Luanne is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ronald Dierking, her son Todd Dierking and daughter-in-law Jasmin, her daughter Jodi Weis and son-in-law Rick, as well as extended family throughout the country and many friends locally and in Southern California. She was preceded in death by her father Fred and mother Evelyn.

A celebration of Luanne's life will take place on Wednesday, June 17th at 11:30 AM at Vaca Hills Chapel at 524 Elmira Road in Vacaville, followed by an interment ceremony at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery at 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local SPCA or to the Vacaville Storehouse. Luanne will be greatly missed by all, leaving a legacy of friendship and kindness.
