Malachi Josiah Luna, 16, of Vacaville, California, passed away on October 24, 2025. Born July 27, 2009, in Fairfield, California, Malachi moved with his family to Redmond, Oregon, at age 6, where he spent his formative years surrounded by the wide-open spaces he loved. In July 2024, he returned to Vacaville, bringing his boundless energy and familiar smile back to the community that first welcomed him.

From an early age, Malachi was a natural athlete. He loved the crack of the bat in baseball, the thrill of a touchdown in football, the fast break and crossover in basketball, the intensity of the mat in wrestling, and the quiet focus of a perfect golf swing. The outdoors was his playground—whether hiking rugged trails, tracking deer through the woods, casting a line while fishing, or scrambling over rocks with friends and family. Even on quieter days, you'd find him deep in a video game, controller in hand, battling alongside his brothers with the same competitive spirit he brought to every field, court, mat, and forest.

Malachi had a smile that lit up rooms and a heart big enough to match. He was a devoted son, a protective brother, and a loyal friend who made everyone feel seen.

He is survived by his parents, Matt and Rikki Dawn Luna of Vacaville; his sister, Madison Luna; his brothers, Matthew, Mason, and Michael Luna; his grandparents; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who cherished every moment with him; and a community that will never forget his spirit.

A celebration of Malachi's life will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Vaca Hills Chapel in Vacaville. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a youth sports program or outdoor recreation fund in his memory.

Malachi lived fiercely, loved deeply, and left the world better for having been in it. He will be missed beyond words, but his joy lives on in every sunrise over the mountains, every swing of the bat, and every game played with heart.
