Marie Evelyn Schaffner

September 5, 1925 – April 5, 2023

Marie Schaffner passed away on April 5, 2023, in Meridian, ID. She was born Marie Evelyn Wales on September 5, 1925, in Hawthorne, CA.

She worked briefly at Mare Island Naval shipyard in Vallejo before marrying the love of her life, George "Buster" Schaffner after he returned from serving in the Marines during World War II.

They purchased their first home in Vallejo, CA and spent their time riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, camping and fishing. This is where they welcomed their two children Randy and Pam.

In 1971 they moved their family to a 10-acre almond orchard in Vacaville, CA. Buster passed away in 1992 and Marie remained at the family home until 2005 when she relocated in Gilroy, CA to be closer to her daughter and grandsons.

In 2020 she moved to Meridian, ID where she lived her final years with her daughter Pam.

Marie was a great friend to many, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was fiercely independent driving until the age of 95. She loved to play bingo, and she especially loved her little dog Buster.

She was preceded in death by her husband Buster, her father Douglas, her mother Gertrude, her brother Willard, and her sister Faye.

She is survived by her son Randy; daughter-in-law Ali; grandson Rory; her daughter Pam; son-in-law Rick; grandsons Cole and Brad; great grand-son Landon; great grand-daughter Leighton and their mother Taylor.

A Graveside Service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 13, 2022 at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery 522 Elmira Road in Vacaville.
