Obituary

April 14, 1955 – September 16, 2025

Martha Kay Scrivens, known affectionately as Marty, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 14, 1955, in Santa Cruz, California, and was a beacon of strength, love, and joy to all who knew her.

Marty is survived by her devoted husband, Ken; her children, Bj (Beckey) Ashlock, Michelle Mallory, Brooke (Justin) Schouten, and Josh (Daphne) Scrivens; her brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Bethann Humphrey; her grandchildren, Joey Scrivens, Danessa Scrivens, Cooper Schouten, Jordan Scrivens, Emma Schouten, Nova Ashlock, Peyton Mallory, Breckin Ashlock, Seamus Ashlock, Declan Ashlock; and her great-grandson, Finn Schouten. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl (Pumpkin) and Mary Humphrey, and her sister, Karen Wright.

Marty's life was full of love and joy, as she devoted herself to the people she cherished. A beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, she had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and loved. Her infectious spirit and laughter brightened every room she entered.

She was an avid camper, a skilled country western dancer, and a passionate gardener, always with a deep connection to nature. Marty's love for cooking was matched only by her love of wine, and many fond memories were made around the dinner table with family and friends.

In her professional life, Marty worked as a human resources professional in the fields of insurance and real estate. She was known for her work ethic, compassion, and her ability to bring out the best in those she worked with. She was deeply admired by colleagues, but her legacy will be most felt in the hearts of her family and friends.

Described as "the strongest woman they knew," Marty was a true inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, resilience, and unwavering support made her a rock for her loved ones. Those who knew her well will always remember her as a one-of-a-kind woman, whose heart was as vast as the ocean she loved, and whose presence made life richer for everyone.

Marty's passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who loved her, but her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched. Her family takes solace knowing that she is now at peace, and they will carry forward her legacy of love, joy, and unwavering strength.
