MSgt Wesley Ryan Sorenson, age 41, passed away Saturday, September 25th, 2021 after 37 days in the hospital battling COVID-19 in Jackson, California. Wes was a treasured son, dedicated brother, the world's best husband, and a lifelong friend to countless people that he met in his fun and adventurous life. He loved the outdoors with off-roading, fishing and camping among his favorite activities.

Wesley was welcomed into the world as the first-born child to Scott and Marlene Sorenson on May 30th, 1980 in Columbus, WI. He learned the value of honest work living in the country and developed his knack for mechanical work alongside his father. For his 14th birthday, his parent reserved his first flying lesson which led to a lifelong passion soaring the skies around the world. After graduating from Rio High School in 1998, Wes enlisted in the Air Force as a Helicopter Crew Chief at Hurlburt Field in Pensacola, FL. It was not long before his passion and drive earned him a position as a Flight Engineer on the biggest US Military Aircraft, the C-5 at Dover AFB, DE. After proving his skills, he was offered a position on the Gulfstream out of Ramstein AB in Germany then Florida. He retired from active duty with just over 19 years of service then joined the Reserves at Travis AFB, CA. He then went back to the C-5 as a Flight Engineer Instructor, where he proudly accomplished a total of over 22 years of service in the Air Force.

Wes loved his work; his position gave him the opportunity to travel the world! Wes ensured the aircraft was mission ready from preflight to engine shut down, and taught countless other to do the same. On his travels, Wes often explored parts of the world where only locals go to see the natural beauty in countless locations. He shared his photos and videos with his family, friends, and on his YouTube channel.

Wes was proceeded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as his father Scott Sorenson. He is survived by his wife TSgt Rachel Sorenson of Travis AFB CA, his sister Amanda (Adam) Tazelaar of Portland, OR, and his mother Marlene Sorenson of Highlands, WI.

A funeral with full military honors is planned for October 14th, 2021 in Vacaville CA, at the Vaca Hills Chapel, and also online via Zoom. There will also be a local Celebration of Life held in Wisconsin at a later to be announced date and location.
