It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ramona Sandoval Barragán. She passed away at VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville, California on Monday May 8, 2023 at 12:50pm. Ramona passed away peacefully with family at her side.

Born to Alfredo Sandoval and Soledad Barragán on January 24, 1938 in Pajacuaran, Michoacán Mexico. She had 1 sister, Maria and 3 Brothers, Salvador, Alfredo and Claudio. Ramona Married Jesus Romero at the age of 15 in Pajacuaran. They later moved to Guadalajara to start their married life. They had 6 children.  Maria Cruz, Maria Isabel, Bonifacio, Luis, Guillermina, and Jesus. Ramona became a widow when her husband Jesus Romero died at the young age of 42.

Ramona was fiercely independent and always did what she could to raise her children with only one parent and one income. She worked as a maid for most of her life.  It was difficult at times, but she was able to provide what she could. She purchased land and built her own home which still stands today. She did not let anything stop her from doing what she thought was best for her children. She had no formal schooling but knew how to get just about anywhere. She was never formally taught to read or write but she did not let that stop her from running  errands all over Guadalajara. She knew her bus, what route to take, where to get off, etc. She was self-sufficient, street smart, strong, independent, and fearless.

Ramona spent her adult life in Zalatitan in a close-knit community referred to "Loma Bonita". She lived her life raising children, lending a hand in raising her grandchildren, a friend to many and was very devoted to the Catholic Church.  Ramona was well known and beloved. She was an avid follower of the pilgrimage of Jesus of Nazareth within Loma Bonita where she followed that statue and said a daily rosary.

In her later years, she spent a lot of time coming back and forth from Mexico and the United States where her daughters live. She split her time between her three daughters in California and in Mexico where she had her house. She spent all of her time with her family when she was in the states. She loved to walk and explore her surroundings.

Ramona is preceded in death by her Parents, Alfredo Sandoval and Soledad Barragan. Siblings, Maria and Salvador and Son, Jesus.

Ramona is survived by her brothers Claudio and Alfredo, Her sons, Luis and Bonifacio and wife Elsa, Daughters Guillermina, Maria Cruz and Husband Antonio, Maria Isabel and husband Jesus. Her 19 Grandchildren, 33 Great Grandchildren, 16 Great Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Great Granddaughter. Family in Michoacan- The Sandoval Family, Barragan Family. Close friends, Celia Navarro, Celestino Carbajal,  Vicky Mendoza and Family, Ramon Carrasco and Family, Don Victor and family, Eduardo "Lalo" and family.

Services will take place at VacaHills Chapel on Monday May 22, 2023. A rosary and viewing will begin at 2pm with a religious service beginning at 3pm. With a reception to follow at the Carbajal Home.
