Robert John Butcher, born February 26, 1932, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and devotion to family. He was the beloved son of Orpha and Clarence Butcher and a cherished younger brother to his two older siblings. An unexpected but joyful addition to the family, Robert was welcomed with open arms.

While in High School, he met his soul mate, Marion Burgi. After graduation, he attended Marquette University, earning his degree in electrical engineering. The couple married on April 5, 1952, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love and adventure. During his younger years, Robert also enjoyed playing the trombone in a band.

While living in Milwaukee, Robert and Marion were blessed with three daughters: Linda, Diane, and Karen. Seeking new opportunities and a warmer climate, the family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where Robert began his career with Motorola. There the family grew with the addition of two more daughters, Julie and Mary.

In the late 60's, work took the family to Plano TX where Bob would work for Texas Instruments and then on to Albuquerque, NM and eventually settling in Simi Valley, CA working for Hughes Aircraft. With the youngest daughter married, they picked up and moved to Tucson, AZ where Robert would retire from Hughes Aircraft.

With retirement, Robert and Marion continued to explore new places, moving to Vacaville, California; Georgetown, Texas; and eventually returning to Vacaville. Wherever they lived, Robert embraced community life and volunteered his talents.

Affectionately known as "Butch," he had a lifelong passion for electronics. He loved keeping up with the latest innovations, first through magazines and later online, always eager to learn and explore. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found his greatest joy in his family.

Robert faced numerous medical challenges throughout his life with strength and determination, never losing his fighting spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Joe and Ken, and his son-in-law, Buster.

He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Marion; his daughters: Linda and Diane of Camarillo, California; Karen and her husband Byron of Vacaville, California; Julie and her husband Tom of Malad City, Idaho; and Mary and her husband Kurt of Santa Rosa, California. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of love.

Robert will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
