Sigurd Bauer passed away July 19, 2023. He was born October 18, 1931 in Berlin Germany. He graduated at age 16 and became a gold-and-silversmith journeyman. In February of 1952 he immigrated to the United States. He received his draft notice and enlisted in the USAF, 1953. He served in Europe, South-East Asia and the States for almost 25 years, retiring as a 9 level (superintendent) Master Sergeant. Among his decorations, he received the USAF Commendation Medal.

After his retirement he kept working for the government, at the Mare Island shipyard and Travis AFB, as a hazardous cargo inspector and eventually as base vehicle operations foreman, from which he retired in 1989.

In all these years he shared his love for the outdoors, like boating, RVing and downhill skiing, travel, music, electronics and good friends with his wife of 66 happy years, Olga Hildegard.

Sig is also leaving behind his handsome children, son Sigurd (Chip) and daughter Elke; two grandchildren Christina Moser and Steven Moser, and six great-grandchildren and in-laws. Having had such a great family, of hard-working and decent children, always seemed to be his greatest joy.

Sigurd never forgot the quality of life, which this great nation had bestowed on him and his family. His favorite quote always was, "What a Country!"

A funeral service will be 10:00 A.M Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Vaca Hills Chapel Funeral Home 524 Elmira Road, Vacaville, CA 95687. Burial will follow at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Road, Dixon California 95687.
