Thomas "Tom" Higgins passed away October 10, 2021 in Vacaville, CA. Tom lived in Fairfield for 31 years before moving to Vacaville in 2004. He was born in Chicago, IL and joined the United States Air Force after high school graduation. After leaving the Air Force, Tom attended the apprenticeship program at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. He worked in nuclear refueling when he medically retired in 1993.

Tom loved all sports, traveling, and his family. He played local softball for years, "Mud" football at Alan Witt Park, coached Little League, shot pool, and was a die hard Chicago Bears fan. He also attended all six grandchildren's sporting events over the years. Tom visited many countries (his favorite was Australia), went on numerous cruises, and racked up thousands of miles road tripping across the United States. He was proud of being a Viet Nam veteran AND the grandfather of a West Point Cadet.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and older brother.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue; twin sons Drew (Eileen) and Brian (Julia); brother Bob (Joni): brother-in-law (and in his heart) Roger (Leslie): numerous nephews, a niece, and their families; and the joys of his senior years – grandchildren Amara, Jadyn, Donovan and Kendal, Jackson, Preston.

Tom will be laid to rest on December 20, 2021 at 11:30 A.M at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA.
