Obituary

William M. "Bill" Stroup, 62, of Chicopee, MA, passed away unexpectedly on May 9, 2025, at his home in Vacaville, CA, where he resided for the past 20 years with his wife Debbie.

A graduate of Chicopee High School, Bill enlisted in the US Airforce in 1982.  Throughout his remarkable 25-year military career, Bill received numerous service awards and commendations for his exceptional teambuilding, leadership, and management skills.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Debbie (Goodman) Stroup, brother John, and sisters Jennifer (Stroup) Quinn, and Debi (Stroup) Roy.

Bill was preceded in death by his father William Stroup in 2015, and Claire (Ladue) Stroup in 2017.

Bill was a devoted husband, brother, and friend - humble, private, and deeply committed to his family. He worked tirelessly throughout his life,  but always found time to embrace the joy of living. Whether playing sports, coaching little league, or spending time outdoors, Bill brought energy and enthusiasm to everything he did.

He found peace on the water, grilling, and casting a fishing line. These were the moments that meant the most to him - simple, joyful, and shared with family.

To those who knew him, Bill was a man of principle - honorable, grounded, and inspiring. He challenged others to be their best - unapologetically injecting energy into a conversation.  To those who loved him, he was larger than life - a steady presence with a quick wit, a creative mind, and an unmatched ability to lift the spirits of those around him.

Bill's legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. He will be remembered always for his humor and the way he made people feel - seen, supported, and motivated.
